Nak-Seong-Dae (The Fallen Star)

It took me very long to cook yesterday as I took time to get adjusted to the kitchen. By afternoon I was tired of being in the kitchen. So I decided after lunch I shall go around and see what is there nearby. I also asked my residence manager (Mr.Kim...I wonder how many Kims there are in Korea as my Prof is also a Kim, his secretary is also Kim) to suggest some sightseeing close by. As it happened it took us half and hour to understand each other.

Finally at around 4:00 pm he suggested that I visit Nak-Seong-Dae (meaning the fallen star) which is a pagoda of General Gang Gamchon of Goryeo dynasty. As legend has it when the General Gamchon was born a star fell from the heaven on the night of his birth. There are many legends regarding him. This pagoda was initially built at his birthplace. But later it was shifted to its present location. A park has been developed around that area.

Below are a few pictures of the place.

The pagoda a detached three-storey building. The entrance is the first-storey and the last-storey has the General and his life depicted in paintings.

It is a serene place and is quite well maintained too.
